Strength Through Suffering
"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power forever and ever. Amen." Scripture has been flowing through my heart abundantly since the passing of my mom. I want to express how grateful I am for God's presence. Jeremiah 29:12-14 has resurfaced in my heart during this season as a reminder. "Then you will call on me and come and pray

Resisting Satan Together
“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of suffering.” 1 Peter 5:9 The past couple of devotionals I have been slowly walking through 1 Peter 5: 6-9. I had no idea what God was preparing me for by the time I got to verse 9. “Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” I’ve never been more glad that I put my faith in Jesus. The divine intercession of God’s goodness and peace is getting my fa

Be Watchful
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 Jesus warns us that the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. Peter advises us to look out for the devil and to stay sober minded. My experience with the devil was always under the influence of alcohol. In the past, I was always looking for what I can get away with instead of looking for ways to glorify God. The enemy knew that alcohol caused me to

Free from Anxiety Because He Loves Us
As we live in this fallen world, we experience the bitter outcome of a world full of sin. It is natural in our brokenness to feel the heavy weight of anxiety. How does God respond to us when we’re suffering with anxiety? In scripture, we see a pattern of God reminding us of His character. The solution to our anxiety is dwelling on the character of our perfect Father. I want to mention the life Job suffered while he was here on earth. He was a blameless man who loses everythin

Humility
One of my favorite character traits to look out for in believers is their humility. I see Jesus so clearly in them. 1 Peter 5:6, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under Gods mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” Culture has a heavy influence on our achievements and we grow this dangerous desire for human approval over the approval of our Lord and Savior. It is natural for us to want to feel seen. God created us to be holy and blameless and this world is far from it.

Sweat and Shame
Genesis 3:17-24 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it.’ Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and dus

No Pain, No Gain
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said, I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you.” God created Eve to be the woman to experience “the firsts” of everything. Before the fall, she experienced deep intimacy with Our Creator. The first woman to witness what Gods original plan looked for us. After the first sin, God punished women during childbirth. He says he w

This Is Why We Hate Snakes
Genesis 3:14-15 Gretchen Martin goes over Genesis 3:14-15 for day three of her devotional, Stand Firm. I loved it. My soul felt intense gratitude from understanding the mercy the Lord has for us. God knew Adam and Eves disobedience was going to take place so He already decided that He was going to sacrifice Himself for us. Knowing this helps me understand how valuable I am in Gods eyes. My relationship with Him is so important to Him that He already planned to send Jesus Chr

Blame Game
Genesis 3:8-13 Welcome back to day two of Gretchen Martins devotional, Stand firm. Today, she covers what happens after Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree. Starting in Genesis 3:8-13, God shares the interaction he had with the two sinners. “Then, the man and his wife heard the sound of God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God.” God quickly notices that something is wrong because He has to go look for them. The Lord God c

It Takes Two to Tango
I am starting this devotional created by Gretchen Martin titled Stand Firm. She begins day one with Adam and Eve being deceived by the serpent in the garden. “Did God really say,” is how the enemy gets you. The deadly characteristics of the enemy begin with greed, envy curiosity and selfishness. In the beginning of Genesis, we are being provided for with God’s beautiful creation. The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters and next thing you know we’ve got a fully furnishe

A Heavenly Home
The gym can be a very dangerous place for a child of God. The spirit of pride lingering off of unbelievers surrounding you. The way of guarding your heart from these demonic spirits is to ask the Lord for discernment. I have been going to my local gym on and off for about five years. I wasn’t saved when I first started working out so I was the definition of the jezebel spirit. Walking around in sports bras and small shorts, taking provocative pictures and tempting those aroun

Remembering Charlie Kirk
I remember watching Charlies content all over social media and seeing how the world thought he was controversial based off clipped videos of touchy subjects. After doing my own research on him, I noticed that what he was saying were true things, all common sense. I will admit Charlies debate has led me very right leaning but that is not my identity. My identity will always be rooted in Jesus Christ. His focus on politics has opened my eyes on how important policies were. His
